About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

Emergent Monday: Pseudochristianity teaming up with Pseudoscience

The inconvenient truth is the fact that the temperature of the earth hasn't changed in two decades and is currently headed for a decline (lots of decline), the antarctic ice sheet is growing rapidly, and that the data backing up the climate change hysteria is, and has always been fraudulent, And the Reverend Doctor Chuck Currie bravely dismisses all this factual hoopla and responsible science stuff for the fluffy huggy world of emotional responses.

In his blog post The Rev. Dr. Chuck admonishes us over Hurricane Patricia which he calls "the most powerful hurricane in recorded history" and it really was the most powerful, but hardly devastating when compared with Katrina which is rated at #2 (the most devastating hurricane ever was the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926). Patricia thankfully doesn't even make the top 40 destructive hurricanes, the inconvenient truth is that Patricia hit a sparsely populated area, fizzled out quickly, and brought much needed rain into central Mexico.

Currently Hurricane Patricia is a statistical anomaly. If it were the culmination of an ever increasing number of increasingly more powerful hurricanes Patricia would be a harbinger of things to come, however hurricane numbers have been statistically flat. Florida, a traditional Mecca for Hurricanes, hasn't been touched for a decade. Another inconvenient truth is that we were promised by Al Gore that there would be an ever increasing number of hurricanes due to global warming and in the end we found that there is no global warming and no increase in hurricanes.

The Rev. Dr. Chuck feels he needs to use Hurricane Patricia as an example of how man can outdo God. His evidence is summed up in a quote by Michael Mann who said that one strong hurricane doesn't make a trend... but in this case he'll make an exception:
As ocean temperatures continue to warm as a result of human-caused climate change, we expect hurricanes to intensify, and we expect to cross new thresholds (Source)
Sadly the Rev. Dr. Chuck has chosen to use the word of a fraud, a liar, a man who has falsified data and has hidden data to propagate his personal political agenda. Worse, the Rev. Dr. Chuck goes full anti-reformation and leans on Mr. Pope to support his man centered theology:
"A very solid scientific consensus indicates that we are presently witnessing a disturbing warming of the climatic system. In recent decades this warming has been accompanied by a constant rise in the sea level and, it would appear, by an increase of extreme weather events, even if a scientifically determinable cause cannot be assigned to each particular phenomenon," - Mr Pope
Unfortunately Mr. Pope's hysteria is 'way off target. Global warming has stalled and is probably heading toward global cooling, and that whole sea level rising thing?  Lie. The Rev. Dr. Chuck has a very good reason for quoting the oft wrong Mr. Pope, Mr. Pope is in complete agreement with the Rev. Dr. Chuck politically when he says that "A very solid scientific consensus indicates... global warming" even when a number of responsible scientists question this assessment and are hampered by the fraud brought on by politics.

Politics. Why is a man of God more interested in redeeming the rock we stand on rather than insuring that his portion of God's Church is redeemed? Politics. That is why the Rev. Dr. Chuck demands a political reckoning
Those that deny this solid consensus put the future in jeopardy, often for partisan political reasons, and must be called out by faith leaders for their sin of blocking progress on addressing this great moral issue that impacts all life, God's creation.
Blocking the progress on a purely political agenda is a sin? I actually invite Pastor Paratus to call me out during the worship service in front of friends and family for the sin of blocking progress on a political issue, because MY worry is that the scientists who predict a cooling trend due to diminishing solar activity are correct.

NOTHING in nature is more deadly to human life than a cooling trend. A global cooling trend will cause crop failure, famine, disease, plague pestilence, it always has and it always will. This is a historical fact that you can take to the bank: mankind blossoms in times of warmth, in times of cold we die. If the political minions who blindly follow people like Mr. Pope and the Rev. Dr. Chuck enact their policies these selfish, short sighted policies will make much needed energy resources like coal, oil, and nuclear power rare and punitively expensive. People with no shortage of cash like Mr. Pope and the Rev. Dr. Chuck will have no problem remaining toasty warm in their castles made of followers hard earned cash, but will they have the courage to look at the devastation and death that their political aims cause? Can they even imagine the devistation a freezing winter will do to the slums of Rio de Janeiro?

A sin is a rebellion against God, where does the Rev. Dr. Currie get the idea that disagreeing with his political opinion is a rebellion against God? I'm not going to accuse the Dr. Rev Currie of thinking that he is God, but I do wonder if he remembers who God is?
Increasingly, the fight to address climate change takes on a sense of urgency as we reach milestones where repair of the environment might be past our ability to control. If this occurs, we fail God and sentence our children and their descendants to a future of hardship that is difficult to imagine.
Here's a hint Rev. Dr. Chuck: we already have failed God. We are sinners and have failed short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and we have a future filled with hardship that is difficult to imagine, but it is charted out for us quite succinctly here, and here, and here, and here, and here... you get the idea. Dr. Rev Currie, if you believe that you're going to miss this future hardship because you believe in the pre-tribulational rapture, don't you think your job is to insure your flock is prepared for that event?

Rev. Dr. Currie your blog is filled with talk of doing this, doing that, social justice, ecumenicism, climate change, lots of interesting and important works - and somehow you only found time to mention Jesus five times in one year. Five mentions for the son of God who sacrificed Himself, who volunteered, unstained by sin, to be tortured and executed so you could live forever with Him, enduring unfathomable pain for your sake, and you as a man of God chose to mention him five times. Even the prayer you offered for students, teachers, staff, and parents at the start of the new school year on August 20th failed to mention Jesus. Have you forgotten your fist love? Are you leading the Church of Ephesus?
2I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; 3 and you have perseverance and have endured for My name’s sake, and have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent. (Revelation 2:2-5)
I only say this because works are good, it's how we show our love, but we aren't saved by works, we were saved for works. The object of our love is not these works but Jesus Himself, and nowhere in the word of God does it say that it is a sin to disagree with the Rev. Dr. Chuck.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

  1. "Pseudochristianity" sums up "Rev" Currie's beliefs quite nicely.

  2. Oh, check your spelling on your title - needs an "e" in Psudo.

  3. The RATE at which the eastern side of the Antartic ice sheet is growing is indeed increasing. Why? because there is more moisture in the air and the temperature differences between night and day, and the Earth's rotation angle helps deposit more snow on the ground.

Low temperatures ALONE do not cause more ice to fall. Some of the coldest places in Earth have ZERO ice, because they are extremely dry.

The only time that temperature will prevent ice formation is when nowhere in the planet the temperature falls under zero degrees Celsius. If that happens, then we are irrevocably screwed.

There has been no increase in the number of hurricanes? You should probably simply go to NOAA and do a little research, it is really not that hard.

I personally do not understand why people are against reducing carbon emissions. Moving to clean energy will help us generate more jobs, reduce our dependency of resources, and save ecosystems.

How do we know there is more CO2 in the atmosphere? because the PH of the ocean is changing, and it is killing coral reefs that have taken centuries to form. The evidence is impossible to ignore. I want to know what do we gain by doing nothing? This seems like a pure political play. If liberals say climate change is real, conservatives must say the opposite? Even when it is true? Please help me understand.

    1. MIT Climate Scientist Dr. Richard Lindzen: ‘Demonization of CO2 is irrational at best and even modest warming is mostly beneficial.’ – ‘When someone says this is the warmest temperature on record. What are they talking about? It’s just nonsense. This is a very tiny change period.’

  4. I also want to say, that if indeed your worry is global cooling, you have to look at the data.

Indeed there is a pattern in solar activity, this has been established by ice-core samples:

It is easy to correlate temperature to the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, so notice how the amount of CO2 has been fluctuating between 180 and 300 ppmv.

Anybody can measure carbon concentrations, and the current estimates are around 398ppmv

This is close to 30% higher than the highest ever recorded CO2 concentration for hundreds of thousands of years.

I pray that you take a closer look at the data. I feel you are trying to do the right thing for the right reasons, and if you have any questions I will be happy to assist.

    1. Look at the data? The data has been corrupted and falsified

"Between the years 2010 and 2012 the data measured since 1881 were altered so that they showed a significant warming, especially after 1950. […] A comparison of the data from 2010 with the data of 2012 shows that NASA-GISS had altered its own datasets so that especially after WWII a clear warming appears – although it never existed."

"Thus the issue of man-made global warming has taken on a whole new meaning: Yes, it is always man-made if the data are adjusted to fit the theory. The meticulous work by Ewert has predecessors, and fits a series of scandals and contradictions that are simply being ignored by the political supporters of man-made climate change.”

In fact since 1940 the earth has been cooling

"Using the NASA data from 2010 the surface temperature globally from 1940 until today has fallen by 1.110°C, and since 2000 it has fallen 0.4223°C […]. The cooling has hit every continent except for Australia, which warmed by 0.6339°C since 2000. The figures for Europe: From 1940 to 2010, using the data from 2010, there was a cooling of 0.5465°C and a cooling of 0.3739°C since 2000.”

  5. There is neither "global cooling" or "global warming" which is any different than any time in history. Throughout the thousands of years of history there have been warming and cooling cycles which have not been caused by anything man has done, and these cycles will continue without any cause by man.

This is the fact of the matter.
