About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

False Christ of the Week

As we slip closer to Halloween it appears that one of the more popular things to dress up as lately has been Jesus. Unfortunately these tricksters are not out for fun size snickers bars but your soul. Let's look a the top five:

There's so many to choose from! Like "Vissarion" Sergey Anatolyevitch Torop a fired Russian traffic cop vegan pedophile who left his wife and children for a seven year old girl strolls around Siberia claiming to be the reincarnated Jesus Christ. Torop has approximately 5,000 followers and has said “I am not God. And it is a mistake to see Jesus as God... but I am the living word of God the Father. Everything that God wants to say, He says through me.”

Then there's Brazilian Alvarro Theiss, AKA Inri Christo. Alvarro has been claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ since 1979, he runs Suprema Ordem Universal da Santmssima Trindade in Brazil, where he also maintains a compound that houses his followers who are mostly women (color me unsurprised). Alvarro a pro-abortion vegan anti-capitalist has a 24 hour internet television channel which airs his profundities. Alvarro claims “My mission is to prepare the elect, the survivors of the inevitable nuclear hecatomb that will culminate in the end of this chaotic world, for the formation of the new earthly society, which will strive to fulfil the Creator’s will,” Hecatomb - that's an interesting word, I'm going have to remember to use that.

Another contender is Alan Jon Miller, a former IT specialist from Australia (according to Ray Comfort that's an island off the coast of New Zealand) Miller claims to be Jesus reincarnated and remembers details from that former life. (What ever happened to Napoleon Bonepart? I thought everyone who was reincarnated used to be Napoleon Bonepart) He claims that his crucifixion wasn't as a big deal as everyone makes it out to be. His "partner" Mary Luck claims claims to be the reincarnation of Mary Magdalene (and they both ended up in Australia! Isn't reincarnation amazing?) The couple have even claimed to have a baby together. (Mary Luck's parents must be broken hearted knowing that their only grandchild died 2000 year ago) After his crucifixion the Australian claims he entered the spirit world where he met Plato, Socrates, popes and presidents.

Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda is a former heroin addict and convict who believes that he is the living incarnation of “Jesus Christ, the Man . . . the second coming of Christ.” In the mid 80's Jose started his own ministry, Creciendo en Gracia (‘Growing in Grace Ministry’) also known as “God’s Government on Earth.” First Jose claimed to have received an epiphany from God and was a reincarnation of the apostle Paul. Then two years later he proclaimed that he was Jesus Christ. Jose's message is that Satan and hell doesn't exist, prayer is a waste of time, and the Ten Commandments are irrelevant. Pretty much the message of Satan rather than Jesus. If that's not enough he told his followers to tattoo "666" on their hands as a sign that they believe in him. It was reported that he died of liver cirrhosis at a Sugar Land, Texas hospital on Aug. 8, 2013 but his followers refused to believe that he died. They granted him the title of Melchizedek post mortem.

And now my all time "Favorite": Wayne Bent, known to his followers as Michael Travesser, founded The Lord Our Righteousness church in NE New Mexico. Mr. Bent is the self-proclaimed “prophet” of LOR, which has a small following within its compound known as “Strong City.” Bent, a former Seventh Day Adventist minister, claims that in 2000 God told him to be "the messiah". He claims: "I am the embodiment of God. I am divinity and humanity combined." Wayne also believes that he is the restrainer from 2 Thessalonians 2:6 when he wrote:
"I know that if I die or 'change' the final doom of man will closely follow, for the Holy One who possesses me will leave the earth with His possessed ones. Then all of the world's pent-up hatred and finger-pointing will be unleashed as a flood against each other and their fire will devour them. All of their self-righteousness will come back upon them as a plague, as men do to them double what they have done to me. Their wealth will perish like the snow in the summer sun."
Did I mention that he wrote that from Prison? I didn't? Ok, he wrote that from prison. The Lord Our Righteousness Church was raided in 2008 by state police and Bent was arrested. "The Messiah" is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for criminal sexual contact of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. It appears that "the laying on of hands" has a more secular meaning to this false messiah and luckily for the young girls of New Mexico he's not elegible for parole until 2017.

You may be wondering what God has to say about all of this. Quite a bit actually:
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. (Matthew 24:4-5)
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8)
1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, (1 Timothy 4:1-2)
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. (2 Peter 2:1-3)
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited. (Hebrews 13:8-9)
