About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

False Teacher Of the Year 2015

As the snow falls and the days grow shorter, it's time to recognize those special false teachers that help make the days grow darker spiritually. This year's award is coming out much later than usual, but that's because there's been so much competition for the prestigious Golden Goat award. Our first winner was back in 2013 was John Shore, leader of the Not All There Like That "Christians" who worship Rob Bell and Dan Savage over the God of Israel. Last years winner was Steven McSwain is a self-professed "Christian Atheist", a title that he oddly bears with pride. These two fellows have worked tirelessly to justify their unbelief in such a manner that the undiscerning thinks that they're being fed the Word of God, but instead are being lead through the wide gate to destruction. And that's what being a Golden Goat recipient is all about.

If the nominating committee were to hand out the prized Golden Goat award based solely on atheism in the pulpit we probably couldn't stamp out the gold foil embossed false idols fast enough to keep up with demand. For example Gretta Vosper would be presented with one every time she addresses the congregation in Canada's own West Hill United Church of Self. Or closer to home John Schuck, a man who earns the title of Psalm 14 Fool, instructs the lost to make up their own bible. He would have to add a whole new wing to the Southminster Presbyterian Goat Pen to store his Golden Goats if mere atheism were the sole qualifier.

This year's winner has been hard at work for many years at his craft and has achieved the "Second Peter Principal" to earn this award
18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. (2 Peter 2:18-21)
Attention To Orders (Romans 16:17-18)

For making up his own gospel with creativity above and beyond the call of duty, for causing divisiveness among the Bride of Christ for purely political reason, for using God's name to belittle and berate Christians whose secular vision of a better form of governance of their home differs from his, for raising anti-trinitarianism from an ancient heresy to a modern convenience, for basing his theology from an astrophysicist atheist who is completely ignorant of actual history we are Hereby announce that the False Teacher of the Year is Mark Sandlin, minister at Vandalia Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC. and a self-described progressive.

To start with, Mark Sandlin preaches from The Message which is a great start on your road to the Golden Goat award. The Message, as I've mentioned and mentioned and mentioned and mentioned and will probably mention in the future, is sugar coated arsenic waiting to devour your soul. It's a hand grenade painted bright colors left in a child's toy box. The Message is the Christian Left's satire of the bible. However what truly propels a false teacher to Golden Goat contention is when you re-write a re-written verse from The Message to shove your own political agenda down the throats of a less than discerning audience. For example, in Mark's "The God Article" he writes about the Syrian Refugee Crisis by quoting Matthew 25:34-45, an apt quote for how to treat helpless and homeless, but then he goes and ruins it. Particularly verse 41. In the NASB it reads:
“Then He will also say to those on His left,Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; (emphasis mine)
In the Message it reads
Then he will turn to the ‘goats,’ the ones on his left, and say, ‘Get out, worthless goats! You’re good for nothing but the fires of hell(emphasis mine)
But in the hands of Mark Sandlin it reads like this
Then he will turn to the the ones on the right, and say, “Get out, self-centered souls! You’re good for nothing but making God’s creation a living Hell. (emphasis mine)
Not only did he change God's words putting the blame on those on the right, (by the way - the right hand side is always the place of honor in the bible) he did this because he is on the left and in a fit of adolescent pique he refuses to believe that the God he invented could see sin in anything on the left. In case you missed it: in one maliciously crafted sentence Mark Sandlin just re-wrote the bible, insulted the favored of God, called conservatives self centered, and accused them of destroying all of God's creation, which as a true man of God would know is the result of sin of which we ALL have a share in committing.

The opening episode of Cosmos was the high point of a low show. In the first episode Neil deGrasse Tyson portrayed Giordano Bruno as a martyr of science, when in reality the truth is far from that atheist fantasy. In Mark's "Open Letter to a Too Small God" he admits to falling for the lie hook line and sinker. But when you look at Bruno you see a man who rejected basic doctrines of Christianity such as the trinity, the Virgin Birth of Jesus, the deity of Jesus, and the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus - and Sandlin found a historical soul mate.

In his writings Mark professes a love for abortion, His main reasoning for his love of infantcide is the fact only 30 to 40 percent of fertilized eggs successfully implant to the wall of the womb. Because of this natural occurrence Mark uses this as justification for believing that babies can be slaughtered prenataly. In his biblical arguments Mark ignores Jeremiah 1:5 and Isaiah 46:3-4 and goes to this obfuscation:
In Exodus we learn that if a man causes a woman to miscarriage he is fined, but is he causes the woman to die, he will be put to death. Clearly, in biblical times, they didn’t just fine a person if they had taken a life.
However this is a blatant lie, Exodus never says miscarriage, it's quite clear:
"If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. (Exodus 21:22)
How anyone could confuse "gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury" with "murder an unborn child by chopping it up in the womb" is beyond me. (And yes, I did check the original Hebrew, the word used for birth is yalad which never means abort or miscarry, it only means live birth) but Mark has convinced himself they are the same. And while in his fantasy land Mark conveniently ignores the facts that less than 10% of all abortions are due to rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother, that 60% of all women who have had an abortion suffer from suicidal idealization and half of those actually attempt suicide, that multiple studies have confirmed very substantial increases in breast cancer after abortion (source) (source) (source). One could assume from his enthusiastic support of abortion and it's effect on women (and babies) that Mark hates women (and babies). I personally don't think so, I believe he ignores these issues because they don't match his personal beliefs.

Speaking of personal beliefs Mark postulates that Jesus is not God because it's only mentioned in most books of the New Testament, and not all books. And then he appears to be shocked that Christianity doesn't include non-Christian thought. He whines that "Christianity should be big enough for a variety of thought." Yet he is sadly proud to say
For me, Jesus not being God is a good thing – a very good thing
Maybe Mark is believing in a poached egg, what he needs is a little bit of the real Jesus in his life. And to add to the static and noise about his fluffy god of Love Only, Mark admits he's not a Trinitarian, something his church PC(USA) still believes. Clearly it's not Christianity or God that's not big enough, it's Mark Sandlin that is not big enough for a concept of this nature. He rejects the resurrection of Christ because the bible accounts in the four gospels differ slightly, and because he's convinced himself there is no hell, then there is nothing to save us from so Jesus' suffering for our sins and dying on the cross is a lie.

And according to Mark, substitutionary atonement is a lie. He claims that it only became part of Christian teaching 1600 years after Jesus was crucified. What about:
4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. (Isaiah 53:4-6)
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Cor. 5:21)
and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed (1 Peter 2:24)
He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:25)
whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed (Romans 3:25)
and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world (1 John 2:2)
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1 John 4:10)
Ooops, must have missed those, eh Mark?

It's quite clear that God is too big for Mark Sandlin. God is a God of aseity, goodness, graciousness, holiness, immanence, immutability, incomprehensibility, jealousy, love, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, righteousness, trinity, veracity, and wrath and many more attributes both wonderful and awesome.

But Mark's writing declares all of these attributes null and void and concentrates solely on love, and love only. I forego the theory that Mark concentrates on love because it's the smallest word, and instead advance the theory that he only concentrates on the attribute of love because that's all that fits his narrative. Mark has quite often stated that the god he worships is incapable of justice and righteousness and is incapable of sending an unrepentant sinner to a hell that Mark does not believe in. Mark's god is clearly a god of liberal politics because in his blog his god only cares for the poor and downtrodden that liberal politicians approve of.

As Christian author, Anne Lamott wrote: “You can safely assume you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.” and for Mark Sandlin those hated people are conservative Christians and unborn babies.
Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. (Romans 16:17)
So for your false teaching, rewording the word of God, and denial of His very son's sacrifice Mark Sandlin, we present to you the Golden Goat award. We will pray for those that fall under your spell and pray for their deliverance as you continue to lead your clueless goats on the wide path to a destruction that you do not believe in. We pray that some day you realize that the book you twist to your own political aims so casually truly is the word of God and come to truly know Him and repent from your heretical ways.

Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. (James 3:1)

  1. A great choice -- by which I mean, what a terrible choice! I appreciate your thorough take-down of his awful theology. I read once where he petulantly said that he insisted on preaching from the heart. Apparently Jeremiah 17:9 is another verse he mocks.

    1. He preaches from the heart? Then obviously he's ignorant of Matthew 15:19 also

"For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witnesses, slanders."

  3. Helpful. From what you've presented, Mark Sandlin is quite deserving of his Golden Goat. The links to the posts you've done on the message are also quite informative.

    Thank you.

  4. Just so you don't sound so ignorant, allow me to teach you something new today.

The terms "left" and "right" appeared during the French Revolution of 1789 when members of the National Assembly divided into supporters of the king to the president's right and supporters of the revolution to his left. One deputy, the Baron de Gauville explained, "We began to recognize each other: those who were loyal to religion and the king took up positions to the right of the chair so as to avoid the shouts, oaths, and indecencies that enjoyed free rein in the opposing camp." However the Right opposed the seating arrangement because they believed that deputies should support private or general interests but should not form factions or political parties. The contemporary press occasionally used the terms "left" and "right" to refer to the opposing sides.[9]

When the National Assembly was replaced in 1791 by a Legislative Assembly comprising entirely new members, the divisions continued. "Innovators" sat on the left, "moderates" gathered in the centre, while the "conscientious defenders of the constitution" found themselves sitting on the right, where the defenders of the Ancien Régime had previously gathered. When the succeeding National Convention met in 1792, the seating arrangement continued, but following the coup d'état of 2 June 1793, and the arrest of the Girondins, the right side of the assembly was deserted, and any remaining members who had sat there moved to the centre. However following the Thermidorian Reaction of 1794 the members of the far left were excluded and the method of seating was abolished. The new constitution included rules for the assembly that would "break up the party groups.

When Jesus referenced right and left it had nothing to do with the politics of the French Revolution or the politics of today.

    1. Christian Left,

These are excellent points. I did not know the origin of these unhelpful and confusing terms.

Neither Left nor Right in a political sense have anything to do with Christianity. The ways in which the words and concepts of "left" and "right" are used tend to divide people for the wrong reasons.

The key concepts for Christians are "inerrancy", "infallibility" and "orthodoxy". Mark Sandlin teaches against all of these things, and so is defined by the Scriptures as a "false teacher", or a "wolf".

    2. Haha! So Sandlin's "Christian" Left fanboys try to defend him but don't even realize that SANDLIN was the one using the left/right terms politically in his original post.

Thanks for adding another correction to the false teacher of the year! You know the guy is pure wolf if the best his defenders can do is to add to his list of errors.

**Sorry if this gets posted more than once -- blogspot wasn't working well today**

    3. That's not really new, I've been studying the French revolution all year. Especially the part about the slaughter of Christians brought on by the left in the French revolution. It's known as the Dechristianization of France and didn't end until Robespierre met Madame la Guillotine

It's pretty clear from your reposting of a wikipedia snippet that you missed the point of Mark Sandlin's twisting scripture to satisfy his political urges completely. It's true that when Jesus spoke of right and left it had nothing to do with the politics of the French Revolution - so why did you bring it up? especially to a history fanatic?

So let's try this again - Biblically (and historically) the right is always considered the place of honor. Jesus said in Matthew 25:41 "those on his left" would be condemned and the original text clearly says εὐώνυμος (euōnymos) clearly means the left side. It's used 10 times in the bible and every time it means "LEFT" - so why did Mark Sandlin say "RIGHT"? My guess is that he couldn't bear to hear his beloved political identity be condemned. That's just a guess and it's possibly why he twisted scripture like he did.

Just so you don't sound so ignorant, allow me to teach you something very old today:

5 Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. 6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6)

Scripture is not a toy to be used to make political points as Mark Sandlin appeared to do. Maybe he made a mistake and confused left for right, and I pray that this is what he did, because God doesn't like false teachers

1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. (2 Peter 2:1-3)

As a teacher Mark Sandlin really should be aware of his fate

Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. (James 3:1)

  5. You think the political ideology of the right is the more Godly ideology? Wow. It's really sad to see how brainwashed you and your brethren really are. You have succumb to false teachers sir. I will pray for you. As is stands right now you are a Pharisee.

    Matthew 23

13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.

    1. I never said that the right is a more Godly ideology than the left. however you possibly missed it when Mark Sandlin implied that the left was most godly and I pointed it out. However you and I both know that your question is a false accusation because you KNOW I never based theology on political leaning. Yet I forgive you and your slanderous accusations (Pharisee? i'm not even Jewish, although I did study Genesis under a rabbi) because we are called to forgive slander

and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. (1 Peter 3:16)

What I believe upset you is that I disagreed with a false teacher and (now I'm guessing here) you got upset because you agree with his personal agenda. You attempted to obfuscate the entire issue by politicizing a theological disagreement and discredit me with your baseless accusations.

You claim that I have succumb to false teachers - could you name them? Do you really believe that Charles Haddon Spurgeon is a false teacher? Had you bothered to read my blog you would see that I expose false teachers using only sound biblical doctrine because that's what we are called to do

Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. 18 For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. (Romans 16:17-18)

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8)

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)

8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! (Galatians 1:8-9)

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)

But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting (2 John 9-10)

And with that au revoir mon ami, ne confondez pas la politique dans mon analyse de la théologie

    3. You two must be so proud of yourselves! Haha! You and your doctrine wars are sad. Wake up from your slumber. You drive people away from Jesus, those who are trying to seek him. Repent, before you have to answer for your actions.

      Delete
    4. I have sought, and found him, and He has accepted me as his adopted brother, and you would loose a year of sleep knowing what I have repented of. However if you knew anything of the faith you claim to profess you would know that doctrine is the core of teaching:

Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you. (1 Timothy 4:16)

I am trying to ensure salvation for those poor goats caught by the snate of false teachers like Mark Sandlin and Gretta Vosper. By attacking those that are struggling for purity in doctrine you are doing Satan's work and putting yourself between them and the purity of God's word.

25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.(2 Timothy 2:24-26)

Getting back on subject - you accused me of falling under false teachers (and of being Jewish, which would be awesome if I were one of God's chosen people!) and I asked you to name those "false teachers" which you now prove to be incapable of doing. So I'll take pity make it easy on you - name the false teaching you seem to believe that I am espousing.

18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. 25 But they have done this to fulfill the word that is written in their Law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ (John 15:18-25)

  8. Wow, when the true teachers come out, the false teachers call the true teachers false.

Jesus would be a liberal in today's world. He would not support the Republicans or most of the evil men who teach hate and intolerance, which appears to be the norm in many "Christian" circles.

Calling out those who would marginalize the poor, the widow, the orphan, the needy, including and especially the LGBTQ community.

What really gets me is that so many of the people who try so hard to exclude the LGBTQ community do it because they claim this community is made of sinners. Yet Jesus ate with sinners and specifically told the Pharisees that he came to help the sinners, because, to paraphrase him, Healthy people do not need doctors.

If you believe members of any community are sinners that is all the more reason to welcome them into your congregation and let them hear the words of God and partake of the Eucharist.

Yet most of these false teachers seem to want only like-minded persons to be in their congregations.

If you want to see who is REALLY the false teacher you need only apply a hermeneutic of Love. Those whose teachings are loving are the true teachers because God IS Love and (as John says) all who Love Abide In Him.

    1. Alec Simpson,

The false teachers are on the “Christian Left,” and leftist “Christians” will always be false teachers.

The problem with the LEFT is that they always talk politics, and they always join the ungodly faction. I’m sure Jesus wouldn’t support either political party — and that has never been our argument. However, between the two main parties, the most ungodly platform is that of the Demokrats, who promote theft (redistribution of wealth), sloth, murder of the unborn, sexual immorality in every possible form, same-sex fake marriage, and so forth.

Real Christians have always taken care of the REAL poor, widows, orphans, needy, etc, but we do it ourselves rather than demanding that the government steal from others to take care of said people. (And we all know how terribly inefficient the government is with their programs which do more to enable than to help.)

The “LGBTQ” community doesn’t exist — people are not defined by their sexual immorality; at least they shouldn’t be defined by it. REAL Christians never marginalize people caught up in sexual sin, rather we teach them the truth about it and point them to the Cross, while the so-called “Christian” LEFT fosters their sin while sending them to hell.

Yes, Jesus ate with sinners, as the taught them that they WERE sinners and pointed them to repentance and God. He told the adulterous woman to “Go and sin no more” while the “Christian left” aids and abets their sin and tells them they are blessed in their sin.

The assembly of Christians (i.e. the church gathered) is NOT a place to invite the unbelievers. IF they show up, they can be welcomed to observe (which is why Paul said our assemblies are to be orderly), but “Church” is NOT for unbelievers.
      http://watchmansbagpipes.blogspot.com/2010/02/what-is-church-for.html

If they are unbelievers they should NEVER partake of the Lord’s Table, not should they do so if they claim to be Christian and yet are practicing a sinful lifestyle - doing so will bring condemnation on them from God.(1 Cot. 11:27-32)

REAL “love” tells the truth, while your “love” is really hate because you keep people in their rebellion to God.

    2. I'm not sure who you are talking about, I addressed Mark Sandlin's theology which at best is heretical and I proved it biblically. I said nothing about the poor, the widow, the orphan, the needy, including and especially the LGBTQ community, and you know NOTHING about me or my congregation, nor do you know about our actions. Why? Because Jesus gave us important instructions

1 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. 2 “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

I will pray that the Lord helps you with that

    3. Alicia,
Where do you get the basis of what you believe? It is obvious that you have strong convictions about these things. That is commendable.

It is easy (and tempting) to throw accusations against people. But as Christians, we all know from the Scriptures that we make lots of mistakes. We know that our hearts deceive us. And we know that we continue to break God's commandments in the Old and New Testaments.

Your talking a lot about hate. But can you name specifics against Doug? Where has he published the kind of hate you are describing?

Let's talk specifics, and base our conversations - and convictions - on Scripture.

Or maybe you don't accept Scripture as normative for Christians?

      In kindness and love,
      Alec

  9. Christian Left says we drive people away from Jesus, but he is ironically wrong. THEY drive people away from the true Jesus to one they have made up - a "Jesus" who fulfills all their ideology and blesses sins. While we point people to the TRUE Jesus the Bible tells about. They are idolators, worshiping gods of their own making.

    3. This post has opened up a strange window into a community of darkness.

Human reason placed above Scripture again leads people to call darkness light and light darkness. Poor souls. They are right in one sense - self-righteous hypocrisy is ugly wherever it's found. May God free them and keep us from similar mistakes.

  11. I'd like to accept this award (and what I assume is an unreasonably large cash reward that comes along with it) on behalf of the millions of readers who visit my blog. It really is an honor. I'm a bit embarrassed that I haven't prepared an acceptance speech, but I hope those who visit here will accept this comment (replete with correct spelling and grammar) as my show of appreciation.

Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to make my way over to my favorite bar, meet up with my friends (including atheist, homeless, strippers, the spiritual but not religious, etc.) and have a celebratory beer.

If only Jesus had given clear instructions, like he did on gay rights and guns...

    1. Jesus never mentioned gay rights, He talked about sin and the need to repent. As for guns they didn't have any, they had swords which He did address

And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one. (Luke 22:36)

    2. The "refugee crisis" has a lot to do with the fact that a large percentage are military aged males, and since they are Muslims invading other countries this is a serious political issue, where there people should not be allowed in any country without a solid vetting process in place. Not only that, they should be resettled in countries in the middle east where they have similar cultures.

as for the Christian response, our first duty is to believers, and those we may aid in any way possible. Unbelievers should not be given any aid until believers are provided for (Gal. 6:9-10)

This is pretty clear instructions from Scripture.

  13. To be fair, in a political sense, there are legitimate reasons to feel that both parties are selective in their support and hatred for certain groups of people. True Christianity requires love and patience but it also entails righteous judgement in some aspects. What the Christian Left fairly criticizes are those whom would use Christianity as a means of propagating conservative politics and ideology and who insist this is the only proper way of doing so. You can find many pastors and preachers who genuinely believe and teach that progressives are heretical.
However, this does not excuse The Christian Left, which does virtually the same thing in order to promote liberal politics.
My brothers and my sisters, can we not see that these conversations do little to profit us?
Can we not see the division they create?
We have all felt the love of God in our own ways and through our own experiences and through our own understanding.
Let us not tear down Sandlin, the right, the left, or any of our fellow man.
Let us concentrate on sharing the love of Christ with those who haven't felt it.
Let us bring peace to those who have not heard the song of redeeming love.
In Matthew, Jesus clearly states that the greatest commandment is love of God and love of man.
Let us make this a principle of action, not just faith.

    1. I am not sure why people think this is a political blog. It is not.

I do not have issues with Mark Sandlin's politics. I personally don't care about Mark Sandlin's politics, I don't care about your politics, I don't care about >>>MY<<< politics. Politics is of this world and we Christians are not of this world. This world is not our home. Jesus was praying and weeping over us when He said to Father God

14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. (John 17:14-16)

Our mission is to spread His word, help those we meet along the way, and spread His gospel with them. Not to rule them, not to force them to conform to our selfish ideals be they right or left, but to share the word and encourage repentance.

My disagreement with Mark Sandlin is purely theological. I have no idea how people responding to this blog and this post got the misbegotten, baseless, groundless, ignorant idea that my disagreement with Mark Sandlin is political. The way he abuses the word of God to dupe those without the wherewithal to Be The Berean and double check his words against God's word and leads them down the wide path to destruction breaks my heart.

Politics is a smoke screen Satan threw up to fog our vision, to drive a wedge between us and God. I will have no more of Satan's putrid stink on this blog. I'm the moderator so I will moderate. Disagree with me all you want on theology, doctrine, teaching, or Korean cuisine, I don't care. But any word about politics, left or right, will be MODERATED into obscurity.

    4. I believe they're all real people, even Boise12 who got a blogger identity today probably so he could talk to me.

We need to keep in mind that they've been poisoned with false teaching. Bad doctrine leads to belief in a god that's vastly different than the God who revealed Himself to us in scripture. Another typical narrative among those that are led astray is that they actually believe deep down in their heart that disagreement means an attack and they honestly believe that an attack must be answered with an attack.

Sometimes they sweetly word their angry attack, maybe to fool themselves into thinking that they haven't lowered themselves to the level they falsely believe we are at. I don't know if they actually think we can't see their unwarranted sugar coated assault as an assault, or if they're just blind to the fact that they are projecting their own hate and anger on us.

All we can do is offer them the true word of God and pray that the Holy Spirit will convict them to realize that the words on the page are written in our heart by the finger of God and not to be taken lightly.

    1. The word of God is not "a pile of legalistic claptrap" and shame on you for saying so. I posted the appropriate Bible verse for each objection. If you can refrain from blaspheming God's holy word I can assist you with each verse.

  16. You folks are lost souls and we will keep you in our prayers. None of your legalistic babble redeems you.

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” -- Galatians 5:14

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. -- James 2:8

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” -- Mark 12: 30-31

    1. Real love speaks the truth about false teachings. Real love speaks the truth about the harm of homosexual behavior. Real love preaches the REAL gospel when helping people in need.

The "Christian left" has no idea what real love is.

Your prayers to a made up god you serve do not do a thing.

    2. I'm not sure how protecting the purity of the word of God, as we are implored to do by Paul over and over, is by any stretch of the imagination "Legalistic". And as usual you failed to offer any evidence to back up this accusation. Your words are causing me to think that you don't understand what legalism actually is. Would you like help with the concept?

And thank you for the review of Galatians, James, and Mark. I know and follow those readings and I'm very sure most if not all of my readers do too. However if by reciting these verses you are making an accusation it's a goundless and baseless accusation for which you have provided no evidence for backing up your sadly angry sounding denunciation.

By failing to address the original article are you unable to address the fact that Mark Sandlin actually misuses the bible for his own purposes regardless of how good they are? Or are you just aggrandizing your political position at the cost of brother Christians?

My main concern with the article is the soul of Mark Sandlin, for as you know a teacher is judged much more harshly. You probably noticed in James:

Not many of you should be teachers my brothers, knowing that we will receive greater judgment. (James 3:1)

Why? Because the Gospel is God's pure word and the bible carries a curse for those that alter His word, which you probably read when going through Galatians

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! (Galatians 1:8)

God WARNS us not to mess with his word:

5 Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. 6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6)

So, because you refuse to directly address the original post and instead choose to make false accusations we are going to have to strongly consider strictly moderating any further posts of yours because

23 But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels. 24 The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:23-26)

    3. Of course we agree about loving our neighbor. The "Christian" Left pretends that only they like those passages.

The problem is in how the "Christian" Left defines love. We use it in the proper sense of having someone's long-term best interests at heart -- e.g., if the behavior in question violates God's commandments we'd caution against it. The "Christian" Left's definition is affirming people in whatever they want to do. That's them loving themselves, not their neighbors.

What is your definition of "lost souls"? Don't you believe in universalism, that everyone is saved?

    1. Personally, I believe in Annihilationism (also known as extinctionism or destructionism) which is a Christian belief that apart from salvation the final punishment of human beings results in their total destruction rather than their everlasting torment. Even those who are thrown in the lake will burn and exist no more.

      Delete
    2. So let me see if I have you correct. If God was to annihilate us that means one of two things: Either God's wrath has been satisfied or it has not been satisfied.

If God's wrath has been satisfied, then it would be unjust for Him to terminate the life.
If God's wrath has NOT been satisfied, then it would be unjust for Him to terminate punishment.

So are you saying God is unjust?

    3. Christian Left,

By including both the hateful quote and the hateful cartoon in your last post, you seem to be showing your true feelings, which are anything but what you are claiming to follow in your holding forth Gal 5.14, et al.

Your denial of the Biblical doctrine of hell is also an indication that your version of Christianity is of the "pick and choose" variety.

Biblical Christians like myself may err in many ways. The difference is that we are open to correction when actual Scriptural based, reasonable arguments are made to show us where we are wrong.

As Doug said, you and the others who have come with such anger here have failed to even attempt to do so.

And as Glenn rightly said, real love speaks the truth. Are you even trying to be truthful? I can't see how you believe anything that you've been writing here. Rather, you seem to want only to foment chaos and confusion.

Here's a prayer for you and I both, "Dear Lord, please lead me to truth. Show me how I can be more faithful to you and to your holy Word. Grant me love to you and to your people, wherever they may be found. In Jesus' precious name. Amen"
