I haven't been blogging much lately because my new hobby keeps me busy. My new hobby, by the way, is visiting doctors and emergency rooms. After too many years of health my body has decided it's due for some quiet time and I've come down with several ailments, most of which start with the word "pulmonary". Two months after my first prognosis I'm still undergoing tests and they're still finding more broken stuff (my first chest x-ray showed my lungs were fine, but my spine was a mess. I need to make sure they know how to focus that x-ray camera properly, they may have it set too deep)
As this journey progresses I'm more and more awed by the love and goodness of my bride (my nursy angel) my boss, my co-workers, my family and church family, neighbors, pastor, and the medical professionals I've come to know. My pulmonologist whom I will call Dr. Folger (who carried twins so she and my bride are both members of the Twin Moms Mutual Support Society) is incredible! No, make that awesome!, when I mention that I'm seeing Dr. Folger, everyone: doctors and nurses and staff alike all say "She's so awesome!" I was seeing a doctor in another hospital and mentioned that I was under the treatment of Dr. Folger and he said "Wow! How did you get so lucky?" Later his department head came in, a stately and reserved doctor of no small renown, and found out I was seeing Dr. Folger and he said "Amy? She's so awesome!"
It's not luck, it's God. He is leading me to all the right places and all the right people, from Dr. Awesome! to the candid nurse at the small regional hospital who told me months ago "We don't have the specialists here that you need, when our doctor releases you, go to the university hospital immediately." I did and her advice put me in touch with some great doctors who made the correct prognosis. So I now see a lot of doctors, and am writing a thesis on hospital food and TV service of the Denver area hospitals. Because 95% of your hospital time is spent waiting for the other 5%, you might as well have a decent TV and try the fish tacos.
Some in my position would sit on their porch and look at these beautiful mountains here in Colorado and curse God for striking them so they can't go up and go hiking. Me - I'm missing my trips to the mountains, but God is giving me an incentive to get better, the promise of returning to the beautiful high country where I can be closer to him both physically and emotionally. I know I'm not reading the Bible as faithfully as I should, I get tired easy and slogging through Leviticus is the best sleep aide I have at the moment, but my prayer life is quite active. God gets me up at 2:00 AM every night so we can chat. One very important thing I learned from our talks is summed up here.
Religion of Peace Update - 300 Muslim students armed with iron bars and sticks attacked a Christian boys' school in Pakistan because of cartoons in France. (Notice I didn't say "Religion of Smart")
Actually I don't think a pastor wants to here this from anyone.
Part Michael Bay, part Paul of Tsarsus... being a complete and total geek I can't wait to see a holographic bible, however interesting it may be will it be useful? or will it be a theological Windows 8?
To the Hindu all beings have a soul, except apparently Christians as an Indian MP introduces a death sentence for any Hindu that converts to Christianity.
This is important, it speaks of God's love in a very special way.
Mr. Pope discovers that Catholics aren't rabbits, advanced countries are Nazis, invents ideological colonization, and defends punching someone that he may not agree with. No wonder why confused atheists like this guy, he's one of them.
Speaking of 'out of touch' - the 12 deaths in France over some drawings that the Religion of Peace didn't like was bad, and I'm glad that the entire world (with the exception of the Obama administration) rose up in anger, but what about the 2,000 deaths in Nigeria at the hands of Boko Haram? Are cartoonists the right kind of martyrs and Christians the wrong kind?
Being a lover of History and a lover of the Bible, this news is exciting (to me at least)
After seeing Roma Downey introduce the Teenage Mutant Ninja Angels, Russel Crow turn Noah from a righteous man to a rock monster wrangler, Christian Bale turn Moses inside out, and Nicholas Cage discover that the only thing left behind was the bible, after all this is there any chance that Hollywood will make a biblically sound Bible movie? Two chances: slim and none.
Pray for the atheist, you cannot possibly believe how deluded their minds are.
As always, my pick for the Big Game this Sunday: It's going to be.... (by 7)
