About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

Emergent Monday: What Harmony Has Christ With Belial?

Would you hire an illiterate to tutor your children in literature? Would you trust a blind man to pilot an airliner? Would you let a child molester teach kindergarten?

So why on earth would you trust an atheist with your salvation?

The United Church of Canada did just that. They knowingly subjected their congregants to the whims and vagaries of an atheist they allowed in the pulpit. Gretta Vosper was ordained as a UCC minister in 1993 and in 1997 she became the minister of West Hill United Church in Toronto, in 2001 she "came out of the closet" and announced she was an atheist all along. in 2004 she formed the Canadian Centre for Progressive Christianity. Under her leadership the West Hill United Church as sank from a Christian congregation to a faithless goatpen, their statement of faith turned into meaningless political drivel called "Visionworks", their love for God and their faith in Jesus replaced with worshiping the earth, how you live is more important than God Himself. By their actions they show they are worshiping the god of this world. And it gets worse.

This dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, is the emergent church in all it's glory - regressive progressivism driving a wedge between Jesus and his Bride, led by a selfish woman, worshiping the creation rather than the creator. Yes, I know 1 Corinthians 5:12 tells us that we're not to judge unbelievers, and I'm not. I'm simply reporting on this fool, but the same verse requires us to judge the United Church of Canada and the elders of the West Hill Church, if I do judge anyone it would be them
The United Church of Canada isn't some little prairie cult out in some unpronounceable region of a province that's nearly impossible to spell (just kidding, I actually like Saskatchewan), the UCC is the largest Christian denomination in Canada having been formed in 1925 with a merger of several denominations. Their statement of faith clearly states their belief in God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, man's sinful nature, and redemption through Christ's sacrifice. It does not include allowing a renegade atheist run roughshod over their flock.

The UCC  allowed Gretta Vosper to do just that. Gretta believes that God is merely an outdated world view, and Jesus is simply mythology. She invented the idea that in Christianity’s beginnings the focus shifted from how one lived to doctrinal belief in God, Jesus and the Bible completely ignoring historical fact. She proudly says that God gets in the way of doing what she wants to do.

That Gretta saw God as a roadblock to her doing what ever she wanted with Christ's church was not a secret, Ms Vosper claims that she had announced to the West Hill Church in 2001 in a sermon that she was an atheist and God was no longer going to be praised in West Hill Church. According to Ms Vosper the congregation stood behind her. I personally find it hard to believe that she was open and honest about her atheism and the congregation stood behind her, after all to be an atheists invalidates her ordination vows affirming a belief in the Holy Trinity and the UCC did nothing

Then in 2008 she made the decision to do away with the Lord's Prayer. When she did this two thirds of her congregation got up and left, never to return, leaving her with an empty church full of goats and fellow atheists. Yet the UCC did nothing.

What finally got the UCC to take action was typical atheist arrogance - Ms Vosper blamed the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack on God in a letter to the Right Reverend Gary Paterson, the spiritual leader of the UCC. Big mistake.
“That didn’t go over well,” Vosper said. “(But) if we are going to continue to use language that suggests we get our moral authority from a supernatural source, any group that says that can trump any humanistic endeavour."
The utter arrogance! Putting mere humanism over the word of God? And she wonders why she's now under investigation. Some say that the letter was a publicity stunt, personally I believe is was selfishness and arrogance, an attitude of "I can do what ever I want, and say what ever I want because there's no higher moral authority than me."

FINALLY after years of theological abuse to the remaining members of the West Hills Goatpen, the UCC is sucking it up and doing something about it. They suddenly realized that they have an agent of satan in the pulpit even though they don't have the guts to say it. They are now looking into Vosper's fitness as a minister and will decide whether to remove her from the pulpit this week at a conference in New Foundland

It's clear that Vosper is fit to be a politician, a self-help guru, an anti-technology protester, amybe even an Occupy Mississauga social parasite. But she is clearly unfit to teach and lead a congregation and biblically she's unfit to even be allowed in a Christian worship service.
14 Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? 16 Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 17 “Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. “And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you. 18 “And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:14 - 18)
Anyone who insists they are a Christian minister and says things like "I don’t believe in the god called God" and "I don’t think Jesus was." and “Using the word gets in the way of sharing what I want to share.” is clearly unfit to serve the bride of Christ. For Ms Vosper I have two words:

Go away

  1. The Untied Church of Canada, from all that I've read over the years, is just as apostate as the United Church of Christ in the USA. So having an atheist wouldn't surprise me.
