"I walk through this sinful world as a
pilgrim in a foreign country" - CH Spurgeon

No, I have not been on vacation, I've been diligently assisting a surgeon with his country club dues (or maybe yacht payments - who knows?). Contrary to what my political detractors shout, I have no problem with this, I've always footed my bill for healthcare so if my pain goes away, my surgeon has earned that teak helipad for his version of the SS Minnow. I'm dealing with Scoliosis of the lumbar spine, degenerative disc disease, bilateral sciatica, Radiculopathy of lumbar region, and idiopathic kyphoscoliosis. In other words, my back hurts a lot. I'm not going to say that I didn't earn it, in fact I worked very hard for it and my doctor is going t have to work very hard to get rid of it.
The pain makes it pretty hard to concentrate at times, and I've found that it helps if I have fewer things on which to concentrate, which sometimes puts this blog on the back burner. I don't know how real heroes like Neil can put up with their constant pain, as for me, I whine a lot. But I also pray a lot. I'm not ignoring my promise to myself and my savior to chart my walk with Him on this blog, however it takes time to recover from mowing the lawn and taking the garbage out.
I love much of Greg Laurie's teaching, but his score keeping and dependency on numbers smacks to me of Greg jumping up and down with a bull horn screaming "Hey look at me being humble!"
I loved the TV show Psych because the star Dule Hill, a Christian, talks about the 'bad guy' in the episode would quite often say the line "He needs some Jesus in his life" We need to realize how true that is
There are no words. Let's just say that if this is anything more than a stunt, the Reformation is dead on it's 500th anniversary
On the eve of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Mark Driscoll is trying to undo what freed us from the bonds of slavery to a false gospel
I reject Canon 24 of the council of Trent, what about you?
The Church of England is totally lost
The United Methodist Church is totally lost
Southern Baptists are under attack,
Like the journalistic paragons New York Times and Washington Post, I have become a victim of Fake News - no wait, they produce it, WE are the victims. Anyhow - as I erroneously reported, the SBC is NOT going Gender Inclusive with their choice of bible version - here is the story. Thank you Stan!
You keep using that word bind. I don't think it means what you think it means
NAR Poster Child Todd Bentley caught in a lie. He needs to learn to keep his false stories of resurrections based in Africa, you get caught too easy here in the US
Oh joy, another T.L.A. (Three Letter Acronym) for the charismatics to embrace: P.A.M. - but it still smells like N.A.R. to me
Religion of Peace Update #1 - Professional atheist Richard Dawkins wakes up
Religion of Peace Update #2 - Daesh abducts and executes two Christians for the sin of "preaching"
Communism still remains an enemy of Christ
This bears repeating: Communism still remains an enemy of Christ
Long Island church attacked by satanists with spelling disorder
Good question!
Paradise Lost coming to a small screen near you (we hope)
United Methodist Church throws nation wide Going Out Of Orthodoxy Sale! It's got to be true! I saw it on the internet!
So sorry about your back pain! That can be so debilitating, and I assure you that your pain is worse than mine. I had throbbing back pain from the cancer (though I didn't realize that was the root cause at the time). That pain is gone, but wow, that would have been hard to live with all the time. Praying for you and my other brothers/sisters-in-Christ (and others) who suffer chronic pain. Mine is a rounding error compared to yours.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know that about Dule Hill being a Christian - really hope it is true - always hard to tell with celebrities. I watch almost no TV, but we did enjoy Psych. I loved how they didn't dumb down the humor or use laugh tracks (I sometimes knew I was missing jokes, but didn't care because the next one came quickly and they didn't insult my intelligence by telegraphing everything). Heard they are making a movie -- hope it is good. And yes, my wife and I recently recalled how his character said, "You need Jesus!" to a particularly evil character. Of course, we all need him, but it was a great line.
I also miss The Pineapple - I watch the re-runs to find the pineapple that is hidden in each episode.
DeleteFirst, love these Random Tidbits.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I'm praying for you ... and Neil ... and
Then there's this:
"Southern Baptists are under attack, could THIS be why?"
I should point out that it would be highly unlikely that the LGBT folk would be attacking the SBC if they were becoming more inclusive. And I should point out that the SBC disagrees with The Atlantic article.
On the killing of those two Chinese missionaries, I thought it was ironic that two people from one of the most oppressive countries against Christ went to another oppressive country against Christ as missionaries for Christ and were killed. Kind of makes some of us look bad.
Thank you for your prayers and thank you for the correction
DeleteI fully understand the back issues. Due to my 43 parachute jumps as a paratrooper (not wimpy skydiving), I have a couple compressed discs and degenerate disc disease. I'm fortunate enough that as long as I'm careful I don't have a lot of issues with it. But when I'm stupid, the pain nails me hard!
ReplyDeleteGreg Laurie seems to be going the way of all the other mega-church pastors, with his self-importance.
People who seek blessings from robots are idolaters, IMO.
I really wish narcissists Driscoll and Bentley would disappear.
The Anglican Church and the UMC were totally lost decades ago.
PAM -- yep, just another way of pretending they are something else.
Another great round-up.
