Random Bits

"I walk through this sinful world as a
pilgrim in a foreign country" - CH Spurgeon
It's been a pretty busy week here at Casa de Despierto, and to top off the week we had our first snow storm of the season. I was raised in Buffalo and I grew up in North Dakota (its a wry observation which I may explain some day) spending over 40 years between those locations. To me a Colorado winter is a tropical vacation. How can you call it winter when your snow blower is dying of malnutrition? At work the only constant is change, and it's been changing pretty constantly. Along with engineering, my peers and I have been tasked with customer service. This is both good and bad, it's good because customers having an issue have access to folks that can get them fixed for sure. It's bad however because we don't speak English, we speak engineering, a whole different language made up of things like Forward Data Carrier Levels, Entitlement Management Messages, and Conditional Access, none of which mean what they sound like (except the FDC level, that means exactly what it sounds like). The best part of the week has been Bible Study Fellowship - it's just getting better and better. I always look forward to a bible study class, but the "Fellowship" in BSF is incredible, I really miss those guys when I'm not around them. We are studying Revelation but so far we've spent more time in Genesis, Daniel, Ephesians, Romans, and Acts tying the new and old testaments into Christ's revelation to John.

Cult leader Steven Furtick believes that the most arrogant thing that he could do would to be open and honest about church finances.

An enraged Christian woman ambushed Katy Perry's father and accused him of raising a "Satanic daughter" - case you missed my report - that lady was absolutely right about Miss Perry

The Bledsoe county, Tennessee school system has banned the distribution of the Bible and the Gideons from their school due to a single complaint. The school district claims that distributing religious material in school violates the Constitution but in the real world the Supreme Court AND the ACLU both agree that the Constitution says no such thing.

What part of Romans 12:2 do these people not understand?

Did you hear about the study that said that atheist kids were more altruistic than children with faith? Dr. Thomas Trinko did, and he punches holes in the deliberately skewed psudoscience behind that particular litany of lies. Big gaping holes.

‘The Gospel According to Jesus Queen of Heaven’ A “work of devotion” meant to remind people of what Jesus was “really like” casts Jesus as a transgendered woman. The author of this claims to be a practicing Christian, but it appears that she's practicing for the wrong team.

Religion of Peace Update #1 - In a vain attempt to enlighten complacent westerners, Really Big Coloring Books Inc has come out with ISIS - A Culture of Evil Coloring Book. Personally I don't think it will be a very big seller, Americans have become very good at not seeing things that are there, and seeing things that don't exist.

Religion of Peace Update #2 - a Christian girl was beaten and locked up for using a toilet reserved for Muslim students. The Packistani police's reaction was as expected: "We don't know nuttin'"

Religion of Peace Update #3 - ISIS is going to find out real fast what it's like to attack a country that has a leader with a spine. This is not going to be pretty for anyone.

Religion of Peace Update #4 - ISIS wannabe who was on the FBI watch list goes on a stabbing rampage at the Merced campus of the University of California. The lame stream media is predictably silent on the facts of this case, and just as predictably there is no raucous outcry to deny a citizens right to bear cutlery by the predictable left.

I am so ashamed for the City of Buffalo, the Sabres are bad enough, the Buffalo Bills' silly red pajamas were even more embarrassing, now this church sign.

Another vacuous Hollywood waif pontificating on things that she learned though reading bumper stickers

Good News! Even though our brother Charles Schultz went home 14 years ago, the Gospel still lives on in the new Peanuts movie! I think Sparky would be proud.

I don't know what to say for these poor broken souls other than "pray for them"

Pray for this shattered family also

A true Christian hero in the Battle of Houston!

And a true Christian in Hollywood!

  1. Doug thanks as always for these "Random Bits". Two comments:

    1. Your assessment is on target about Katy Perry, the 2014 Grammys and the overt Satanism involved. A website calledVigilant Citizen documents the darkness in the entertainment and media industries quite regularly. Reader discretion advised.

This line in the Christian Post article you linked should be in red letters, Katy Perry's parents are known to be evangelical Christian ministers. What's the implication? Why have so many "church raised" evangelicals left orthodox (Biblical) Christianity? Katy Perry is far from the only one.

    2. For those who think Star Wars is Christian (sic), Romans 12.2 can also be joined with 1 John 1.5. Don't think the Jedi mind tricks can stand up to the truth of those Scriptures.
