Random Bits

For here we do not have a lasting city,
but we are seeking the city which is to come.

(Hebrews 13:14)
It appears that Governor Jerry Brown, like most of his liberal colleagues, has completely forgotten that the United States is governed under rule of law and not under a cult of personality. What this means is that we are ruled not by a person but by the laws passed by Congress, that way we're not enslaved to the whims of a slick talking Nero wannabe. So when Jerry Brown, Catholic/Buddhist/New Age Demagogue, starts invoking religion to justify his usurpation of law, you need to know that there was no Bible opened in his demagoguery, especially the page that contains Romans 13:1-7.

The human appointed "Vicar of Christ", Pope Francis,  tells Christians that the whole Great Commission thing is just plain rude and shouldn't be followed. In item #9 of his list of  Top 10 P.R. Stunts Secrets To Happiness Mr. Pope tells us "the worst thing of all is religious proselytism," while our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ tells us:
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
But then what does Jesus know? he was only God. He was only sinless and perfect. Francis is The Pope!

In the "If You Don't Believe My Doctrine You're Going To Hell" department, William Craig, Research Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology and Professor of Philosophy at Houston Baptist University has been called a tool of Satan by an anonymous writer at Sanctified Church Revolution, for the sin holding a different doctrinal view than they do. Personally I think the fact that a movie that's claiming to be Christian is staring a Freemason is the point that should be debated vigorously.

Speaking of My Doctrine Is Holier Than Yours, Fred Butler at Hip and Thigh does an awesome job answering the King James Onlyists. Personally I use multiple versions of the bible: NASB & NKJV when I'm studying, NIV (not the TNIV) when I'm reading for the joy of reading God's word, and The Message when I want to see what the dark side is plotting.

Here's the bad news: A pair of missionaries from Samaritans Purse have contracted the super-highly infectious and  over 90% fatal Ebola virus while working to ease suffering in the worst African ebola epidemic in recorded history. And if that's not enough, they're being brought home to America. Ignore the nay-sayers, a pandemic is possible, and biblical.

A new survey says that 1 out of 200 church goers are in a homosexual relationship. Of course the article fails to say what churches these people are going to. Also the article misrepresents the percentage of the US population that admits to being gay, the article says 1.1% when in reality it's 1.6%. We can look at this as bad that 0.5% of church goers are gay, or if you run the numbers (20% of Americans are church goers, times 0.5%) we can look at it and say that about 36,000 gays are looking for salvation. Let's pray that they are in a church that teaches the Gospel of sin, repentance, forgiveness and redemption and not the modern doctrine of "Everyone is doing it, so it must be ok with God."  (post this under "Too Much Fun With Numbers")

It took Gallup to figure this out?

50 Shades Of The End Times.

The Cult of Driscoll Mars Hill Church claims to have made changes in the aftermath of Mark Driscoll's plagiarism episode (notice how they fail to mention his public display of childish behavior at Strange Fire) Also notice how the most important word (repent) is saved for casual usage in the last paragraph. For many burned by Mars Hill it's too little too late.

If it sounds like I'm being judgmental on Mark Driscoll, you're right. WE ALL SHOULD BE. And it was given to the unbelievers to judge the believers, so horror stories like Mark Driscoll, Steven Furtic, Joel Osteen, and Rick Warren  must be purged from our midst.

Guinness is using a hymn to sell beer? I've come to realize that England is lost due to their Godlessness and the fact that this is considered acceptable to put on the air in the UK just goes to show how far they have sank. Click here if you want to enjoy the hymn without fear of knocking over someone's beer, it is my joyful noise of the week.
