About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

Wretched Wednesday - Dr. Michael Brown Lights 'em Up

31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:31-33)
Our God is not a God of chaos, so when the Holy Spirit had Paul lay out the order of worship in 1 Corinthians 14, order is the order of the day. If you want to prophesy, wait your turn, otherwise sit down and be quiet. If you want to speak in tongues wait your turn, but if you don't have a translator, sit down and be quiet.  Confusion is not allowed. Dr. Michael Brown, who denies being part of the NAR, is shown here on Wretched TV, how do you think he's doing in regards to 1 Corinthians 14?

Random Bits

I didn't know, or know of Billy Graham other than the fact that he was a Protestant preacher and occasionally network television was occasionally interrupted for one of his crusades. Being raised in a very Roman Catholic house we didn't watch his crusades, and when I did tune in, I didn't see any knights or horses or Ottomans, so I didn't understand what kind of a crusade it was. Since then I learned that he was knighted as an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, so yeah, crusader.

I'm not making fun of an incredible life, from what I have learned of Billy Graham in the past few weeks I'm think he would have enjoyed that 'crusader' pun, because after all his nick-name was "automatic dishwasher". I found it interesting that he was a target of the Ku Klux Klan, Billy was a registered Democrat his entire life which may have upset the Klan even more because the real reason why the KKK was after Rev. Graham is because Billy and Mike were friends and worked together for civil rights. I just discovered that the Reverend Graham preached in Korea. I've lived in Korea and discovered that the Christians there are incredibly happy to be Christians and love sharing Jesus. Billy Graham was there in 1973 and one evening 1.1 million people, mostly traveling on foot, attended his Crusade. He will lie in honor in the US Capitol Rotunda

How the "King of Cool" met the King of Kings

The United States will move the US Embassy to the capitol of Israel, Jerusalem, on May 14th.

I don't care where you stand on the gun issue, this is just stupid (Ignore the video, it's about another story)

Christians are being slaughtered wholesale in Nigeria - up to 16,000 of our brothers and sisters murdered, do you even care?

Spurgeon Thursday - Preachers Are Servants, Not Celebrities

 Preachers Are Servants, Not Celebrities
What I Learned from Charles Spurgeon

Article by Alistair Begg
Pastor, Chagrin Falls, Ohio

On Sunday morning, August 5, 1855, 21-year-old Charles Haddon Spurgeon stepped behind the pulpit of New Park Street Chapel to challenge

his congregation to follow the example of one of the saints who had inspired his ministry, the apostle Paul. “As a preacher of the word,” Spurgeon said of Paul, “he stands out pre-eminently as the prince of preachers and a preacher to kings.”

Young Spurgeon’s description of Paul was prophetic of his own future ministry. Within a few short years of that Sabbath morning, Spurgeon also earned the moniker “the prince of preachers” as he proclaimed God’s word to congregants from every stratum of society. The boy preacher from humble beginnings even became the “preacher to kings” as members of the British royal family filled his pews.

Lessons from the Prince of Preachers

I first heard the name “Spurgeon” as a young boy in Scotland. However, when I became a man, and began to read his sermons and writings, he endeared himself to me even more. Today, as a minister, I find in his work and life a wonderful example of what it means to be a preacher of the gospel.

1. Preach the Word

As Spurgeon stood before the congregation of New Park Street Chapel that same August Sunday to discuss what it means to preach the word, he pointed his listeners to the veracity and sufficiency of the Scriptures. “Am I to take God’s Bible and sever it and say, ‘This is husk and this is wheat?’” Spurgeon said, “Am I to cast away any one truth and say, ‘I dare not preach it’? No — God forbid!”

Throughout his ministry, Charles Spurgeon maintained an unwavering commitment to the word of God. Over time it became apparent that whether he was preaching in the Crystal Palace, before thousands in the Metropolitan Tabernacle, or with his students, Spurgeon was a man of integrity. His integrity, however, extended beyond his own personal life to encompass his concern for the gospel and theology. His preaching was forever crystal clear and Jesus-centered — qualities that have chased me down through the corridors of time to make me an unabashed fan of Spurgeon.

2. Cultivate the Heart of a Shepherd

Following the example of his Good Shepherd, Spurgeon was filled with compassion for sinners and longed to see them safely returned to the fold of God. Spurgeon firmly believed God loved saving the lost. It was a conviction that fueled his ministry. His tremendous longing to see men and women respond to the offer of the gospel was only matched by his intolerance for those who tainted the gospel of grace with the fallacy of good works.

WWUTT Wednesday - What Is A Christian

I had an entirely different introduction written for today's WWUTT Wednesday video, but a news article came up on RedEye Radio this morning that got me to thinking (always a dangerous proposition) and I scrapped the whole intro.

The news story is that Delaware is going to let school children choose their own race and gender without their parents permission or knowledge. Sooooo... the thought occurred to me that if  I were given the chance to self identify race and gender I was going to choose "Christian" That way if a liberal disparaged Christianity I could accuse them of racism.

Then 2 Corinthians 5:17 came crashing down on my head: Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. I AM a new creature, in Christ I put off the old man with his deeds (Colossians 3:9), I put on the new self in the likeness of God (Ephesians 4:24), so yeah, given the opportunity to choose my gender and race on a form I am going to mark Christian, because that's what I am.
