Random Bits

Yeah, I'm running late with this, it's been that kind of year. The repairs on the hail damage on my roof are running behind because the contractor working on my hours has hail damage to his own house now. I wonder what kind of paperwork one has to submit to get a do-over on the first half on 2018.

On the up side Mr. D. invited me to go to the Mile High Nationals with him and his wife. D. is one of those guys who not only knows and loves the bible, he is not afraid to share God's word. His construction company always starts the job with a prayer and the homeowners join in as the contractor praise God.

I really like drag racing and was hoping to see Antron Brown race. Antron is like Mr. D, not afraid to share his faith in God and share God's word, unfortunately he was eliminated on Saturday and didn't make the finals on Sunday.

WWUTT Wednesday - Is Social Justice Just?

I was a child in the 60's and in middle school the student teachers would entertain us with the stories of their protests. They protested just about everything, so to us it appeared that Buffalo NY was a seething hotbed of social injustice. Some things they protested made some sense to me, but how they protested was, in my mind, stupid.

Stupid, dangerous and insulting.

The actions and attitudes of these mid 20th century Social Justice Warriors gave birth to one of the greatest conservative minds of the 21st Century; me. Well myself and tens of thousands of other people who might have agreed with them, but their antics drove us to a different way of thinking; one that was based on logic and reason rather than emotion and anger. Those same protesters spawned a new generation of protesters who now call themselves "Social Justice Warriors". They don't appear to understand the term 'Social' because if you disagree with them they become extremely unsocial. They clearly don't understand what the term 'Warrior' means, a warrior has honor, and these people's actions are far from honorable. And as for Justice...

Random Bits

I've made the jump away from Twitter. I never got the whole thing about Twitter, it's a shouting match as far as I'm concerned, with the rules tilted to the far left. Why are liberals called "the Left"? Simply because they're Not Right. And Twitter's (and Facebook's) rules against conservative speech are Not Right.

So I moved to Gab, a Twitter-like open forum that promises freedom of speech. We'll see - if my post that points out the fact that over 45% of transexuals attempt suicide gets blocked I'll quit them too. The Gab web interface is about the same as Twitter, maybe a bit easier, but the phone apps are not carried on Google Play Store or Apple iTunes. It's actually quite easy to load the supplied app on an android, but if you have an iPhone, sorry. But you can access the web UI on an iPhone and pin the link to your home screen.

WWUTT Wednesday - Microaggression - America's Newest Craze

I spent a third of my life in the military, most of that in the Strategic Air Command, I was trained and proficient in mega aggression measured in megatons. To me a micro aggression is something smaller than .50 caliber so I really don't understand what all the hubbub is about.

Then I was told that asking someone where they are from is a microaggression, I just do it because I don't want to invite someone from Boston over to my house to watch the Buffalo Bills game. Most Microaggressions are basically dumb questions and should be handled as such. (I once stupidly asked someone "How do you say that in Mexican?) like I said dumb question, but children these days aren't raised to deal with dumb questions.

Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro on the Bible

Many years ago I was blessed with the opportunity to study Genesis and the book of Ruth under a rabbi. It was a truly eye opening semester, and I wish it could have continued, but it truly instilled a love for the bible in my heart. Any chance I get to hear a discussion of the Torah, be it a Jew or a Gentile, I'm there. So when I found this video of Ben Shapiro and Dennis Prager discussing the bible, I just had to share.

Dennis Prager was raised an Othodox Jew born in New York City. He's a best selling author and I can't wait to read his book The Rational Bible: Exodus. Ben Shapiro is an Orthodox Jew and an American conservative political commentator and writer. He is the founder and editor in chief of The Daily Wire

Random Bits

Hillsong's Joel Houston publicly announced that "Evolution is Undeniable" and I agree with him (this time) but only in the short term. "Survival of the fittest" is an undeniable law of nature, if an ice age breaks out, the parrots aren't going to fare as well as the polar bears, if you drain a pond only the residents with feet will survive; ducks and frogs.

When talking about how amoeba become fish become lizards become monkeys became people, the mechanics still don't add up. The difference between human and primate DNA is too vast to uphold the claim that humans evolved from primates. And how come our evolutionary friends never claim that apes evolved from humans? They look like people, they eat bananas like people, they even try to talk like people. Science rocks.

Wretched WWUTT Wednesday - On Fire For The Lord

July 4th! Independence Day! That warm, almost mystical, holiday when we remember those brave men who declared their freedom from an oppressive tyrannical government and won independence from the largest empire on earth. A year later on July 4, 1777, Philadelphia marked Independence Day by adjourning Congress and celebrating with bonfires, bells and fireworks, thus starting an annual celebration I highly approve of and recommend heartily.

I hope you all are having good weather, and while you're "chillin' and grillin'" take a little time to smell a rose, remember those who fought to maintain your freedom, and thank God who gave you Jesus, your savior. Declare your freedom from sin, hard won by the blood of Jesus. Celebrate your independence from the Wicked One and his worldly plots to ensnare you. If you are a Christian then every day is your Independence Day... and be careful with those fireworks.

God and the American Revolution

During the last French and Indian War at the Battle of the Monongahela (July 9, 1755) General Edward Braddock's British army was defeated by a smaller French and Indian force. Two thirds of the British forces were killed or wounded in the fighting. During the battle the British commander, General Edward Braddock, was gravely wounded and it was up to a civilian aid-de-camp, George Washington, to carry out his orders. Washington was able to organize Braddock's retreat order and save the remaining British forces. All through that long, terrible day George rode back and forth organizing men, relaying orders, and all throughout that day native American sharp shooters picked off British officers at will, but when it came to George Washington their bullets failed to find their mark. George later wrote to his brother:
"By the all-powerful dispensation of Providence, I have been protected beyond all human probability or expectation; for I had four bullets through my coat and two horses shot under me, yet I escaped unhurt, while death was leveling my companions on every side of me."
Fifteen years afterward, he went West with a party of men to survey the wild lands, and an aged Indian chieftain called upon him, and told him that at the battle of Monongahela, he had selected Washington as a special target for his bullets, and had instructed his warriors to do the same, but that they were unable to hit him. The chief said that, becoming convinced that he was under the protection of the Great Spirit, they ceased firing at him. The chief said that he had made a very long journey to look one more time upon the face of him who was the particular favorite of heaven. (source)
