WWUTT Wednesday - What Am I Doing Here

Oh no! I've missed the Rapture AGAIN!!! This is downright discouraging. Ok, I wasn't around when the Jehovah's Witnesses scheduled the rapture for October 1914, but I graduated High School in 1975 so I would have noticed if there were a rapture in 1975 that the JWs promised

In his 1979 book End Times Chuck Smith promised right there on pages 35 & 36: "I believe the Lord could come back for his church anytime before the tribulation starts, which would mean anytime before 1981" I was stationed in North Dakota then, and a nice warm rapture would have come in pretty handy in our -25° temperatures.

Then of course there was Harold Camping who promised us a Rapture in September 6,1994... I mean May 21, 2011... I mean October 21, 2011...

"I walk through this sinful world as a
pilgrim in a foreign country" - CH Spurgeon
This past week I was in a political discussion on line where my position was that we need to support our elected officials with our prayers even if the unthinkable happened and Madam Hillary was elected and of course my reasoning was Romans 13:1-7. Another member in the discussion wanted to know how I came to that conclusion from the verses I quoted and he reposed Romans 13 and other verses with a response that literally denied the bible verses that he posted himself.

I didn't get too far into his argument because the Romans 13:1-2 verses he posted looked odd to me. His quote of "the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God" looked very strange and he used that version to say that God didn't establish governments. I searched and searched through my usual bible sites for that quote: Bible Hub, Bible Gateway, Blue Letter Bible, Bible Study Tools, Olive Tree - nothing. It's like that particular translation was completely made up. So I searched in google for the exact text and it came right up, the New World Translation, so in essence I was right about the origin of that quote. I broke off the conversation right there, because in all honesty, you can always tell a Jehovah's Witness, but you can't tell them much

Ahhhhhh HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Seriously, the punchline is Matthew 24:36

Sally Quinn, writes for the "On Faith" section of the Washington Post, Quinn was a self admitted "angry atheist" but eventually learned to worship Satan although like almost all "spiritualists" has no clue that she is worshiping and advancing the blasphemous agenda of Satan. Following her mother's example she became an adulterous witch casting hexes and speaking to "spirits". She also claims to have murdered three people with her satanic powers.

Her litany of adultery and satanism goes on and on but what bothers me the most is what she did at NBC reporter/commentator Tim Russert's funeral. Tim was a local boy, a hometown hero from my neck of the woods and when he passed (without seeing a superbowl victory for his beloved Buffalo Bills) this God mocking satanic hitman actually took communion. Read 1 Corinthians 11:26 - 32, The Holy Spirit of God, through His servant, the regenerate Saul of Tarsis renamed Paul, clearly, emphatically stated that communion is for believers: "For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes" and contains a warning about unbelievers taking communion.

True, it was communion at a Roman Catholic mass and this was the tradition of Eucharist which is different from communion, but she admits to have taken communion at an Evangelical church which she says left her with a “slightly nauseated sensation after I took it, knowing that in some way it represented the body and blood of Jesus Christ.” I personally feel fully nauseated reading her words. Now you know why Mark Levin calls it the Washington Compost. Is this someone you would want writing about faith? And as you try to hold your own meals down after reading that, on with the show:

WWUTT Wednesday - A Little Bit of Romans

Bible Study Fellowship International started their 9 month long class on Romans this week. If you missed it or are wanting to join a BSF group and are worried that you missed out, don't worry, the first meeting doesn't advance the curriculum, it's always an evening of introduction.

I've been looking forward to Romans, not because Rome was such an interesting empire, especially (to me) during the reigns of  Justinian I and Constantine XI Palaeologus, but because Pauls letter to the Romans encompasses so much, it's been called the Readers Digest version of the whole bible. Romans is a book I've always had trouble with, it seems to lock up my brain somewhere in Chapter 3 and it's a struggle after that, except Chapter 13, that one is pretty clear to me now. So to celebrate the start of a new year in BSF here's a bit of Romans from WWUTT

By the way -  many people say that the Roman Empire lasted about 400 years, I say it lasted 1,000 years more than that. If you want to discuss that, let's go!

Pray for Hillary

Matthew 5:44
When you are saved, when you have prayed to Christ and told him that you are his servant, that He is your master, and you put your faith and entire life in Him, wonderful things happen in your life. Hebrews 6:9-12 tells us that some of the natural products of salvation are; Fruit of the Spirit, Sanctification, Unselfishness, Evangelical enthusiasm, and Benevolence.

I remember when Jesus adopted me as His brother, the change was nearly mind numbing. I remember thinking then that WWJD setting unattainable goals as Jesus is the Son of God and perfect in every way, that WWPD was more appropriate as Paul is one of us; a sinner lost in his own sins whose life changed in a startling flash and set an example for us to follow. He left us a legacy of instructions on how to follow Jesus and show our love for Him and our fellow man. Paul gave us so much, expounding on the words of Jesus because unlike us, Paul was taught by the Lord Himself, although we have His spirit to help.

I personally thought that after her humiliating defeat maybe Hillary Clinton had a moment like mine. She had it in the bag;  the media fawned over the only Republican hopeful that couldn't mop the floor with her until he became the Republican candidate, the public didn't care about the foul underhanded tricks her team used to destroy Bernie Sanders, and the director of the FBI gave her a preemptive pass on her felonious handling of very highly classified documents. Her world shattered around her on election night, and months later when she mentioned going into preaching I actually thought she may have turned to her savior and pledged herself to His teaching and His commandments.

Sixteen Years

43 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?  (Matthew 5:43-46)

Irma is on her way and she's packing winds of 150 MPH and headed for a path straight up the Florida peninsula. Like nearly all New Yorkers I have family down there and I am praying for their safety and should something else be in God's will, that He be glorified in whatever happens. I also pray that the Church of Gloom and Doom learns to shut up.

Of course they won't, and I am wondering if they have a significant role to play in the end times. The "Church of Gloom and Doom" that I'm referring to are the branch of Christianity that is aching for the end times to come so bad that they are convinced that everything they see on CNN is a Sign Of The End Times. So what if they are? As far as Christians are concerned, the end times started the moment Jesus stepped out of the tomb.

I personally believe we are nearing the final stages of this period of time God has allowed us, that Matthew 24 is going to play out soon. We don't know the day or the hour, so why bother trying to calculate it by watching CNN? To begin with, their dishonesty has been displayed for all of us to see, so ignore them and stay true to God's word. Let us spread His word, let us help our neighbor so when He comes we can hear those words that I (for one) am aching to hear: "Well done good and faithful servant"

It's coming, governmental persecution of us because of our faith and our love of Jesus is starting, and guess which party is taking the first steps to make it happen

Spurgeon Thursday - What Would Charles Say to a Mormon?

Charles Haddon Spurgeon did not have a glowing view of the United States of America. For the first half of his life the U.S. was deeply immersed in the slave trade. After our Civil War the slave trade ended and Republicans put many blacks in office in the south, but the Democrats destroyed this with their militant enforcement arms, the KKK, the Red Shirts, and the White League. Once they took control of the southern governments the Democrats crushed the blacks by instituting Jim Crow laws and lynching.

I'm sure Spurgeon despaired of the violence as much as the slavery that preceded it, and in return the people of the United States were not at all happy with his sermons. And he was well aware of the cults and false religions that arose from the Burned Over district of Western New York. Their antics and false beliefs probably didn't help his opinion of the United States as a whole. He sure knew the Mormons, whom he called "the haggard superstition of the West" but what would he say TO them after reading from their Book of Mormon? We know his opinion of the Book of Mormon was low:
“One of the most modern pretenders to inspiration is the Book of Mormon. I could not blame you should you laugh outright while I read aloud a page from that farrago.” –Charles H. Spurgeon
He also said this about the Book of Mormon and how it's poison is spreading like wildfire:

WWUTT Wednesday - Eternal Security

I have probably heard this topic discussed more than any other in Christendom and sometimes quite hotly. I have read several documents on this subject which leads me to believe that if you lay every theologian end to end, they will all point in different directions. Eternal Security is a serious question, and one that should be approached prayerfully and calmly and rest assured, some day you WILL know the answer.

I've found that there are three terms that get befuddled in this discussion; "Eternal Salvation", the "Perseverance of Saints", and Once Saved Always Saved. Eternal Salvation is the teaching that Salvation is dependent on Christ's faithfulness--not man's. Perseverance of the Saints means that God will cause the Christian to persevere to the end. Once Saved Always Saved is the position that no matter what a person does he will remain saved. None of these are a license to sin, furthermore, anyone who claims to be a Christian and purposely uses God's grace in order to sin is demonstrating that he is not regenerate because he is acting in a manner that contradicts regeneration (1 John 2:4)

"I walk through this sinful world as a
pilgrim in a foreign country" - CH Spurgeon
Again it's been so busy around here that blogging has had to take a back seat to real life. I have been able to maintain a presence on Facebook and Twitter but that's only because either forum doesn't take too much mental or spiritual horsepower. In the near future I'll reveal what is causing such a mental derailment but for now I don't want to jinx it. (I'm NOT superstitious. it's bad luck to be superstitious)

But wow, seriously wow. Harvey was bad enough but with the mental meltdown exhibited by the Lost Left and the "Christian" Left on the Nashville Statement this was a week to remember! I've had my head down for a couple of weeks, and when I peek out of my foxhole I get run over by the Nashville Statement and people like the Copelands claiming they can hold back the waters. Then there were the Islamic terror attacks popping up in Spain

Obviously there hasn't been enough pain and death in Houston for Satan. His group of minions that names themselves after the embodiment of feminine evil whose origins lie in Babylonian demonology, offer aid to Houston Harvey survivors who want to slaughter their unborn children. Disgusting

Desperation or con-man?
