About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

WWUTT Wednesday - The One Unforgivable Sin

What does the Holy Spirit not do for you? If you're an NAR kind of charismatic that's a silly question. According to the NAR the Holy Spirit will do anything for you, from teaching you a language that no one (possibly including God) understands to killing you when someone waves a jacket at you. (Don't believe me? Watch Benny Hill Hinn in action)  To them the Holy Spirit can do anything and everything, all you have to do is name it and claim it. (See what I did there? 😊)

In the real world there is quite a bit that the Holy Spirit does not do for you. The Holy Spirit does not change your oil, fill your checkbook, or update your wardrobe. He is here to guide and comfort. He doesn't leave clouds, glitter, or feathers in his wake, He leaves encouragement and knowledge. Is claiming that the Holy Spirit does all the things that the New Age and NAR claims Him to do blasphemy? Blasphemy is the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things, so I supposed that if you're intentionally claiming that the Holy Spirit is doing your will to entertain and misinform other people then yeah it just might be blasphemy.

7 False Teachers in the Church Today

Tim Challies penned a very important article earlier this year and it needs to be shared with the entire church. Please read this, and if you're like me you'll recognize someone who fits each category, and if you're like me you've escaped at least one. It's heat breaking to see Satan's attack on the church Jesus built, but what's worse I've watched people who I thought to be good Christians defend these wolves

7 False Teachers in the Church Today

The history of Christ’s church is inseparable from the history of Satan’s attempts to destroy her. While difficult challenges have arisen from outside the church, the most dangerous have always been from within. For from within arise the false teachers, the peddlers of error who masquerade as teachers of truth. False teachers take on many forms, custom-crafted to times, cultures, and contexts. Here are seven of them you will find carrying out their deceptive, destructive work in the church today. Please note that while I have followed the biblical texts in describing them in masculine terms, each of these false teachers can as easily be female.

The Heretic

The Heretic is the most prominent and perhaps the most dangerous of the false teachers. Peter warned against him in his second letter. “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction” (2 Peter 2:1). The Heretic is the person who teaches what blatantly contradicts an essential teaching of the Christian faith. He is a gregarious figure, a natural leader teaching just enough truth to mask his deadly error. Yet in denying the faith and celebrating what is false, he leads his followers from the safety of orthodoxy to the peril of heresy.
From the church’s earliest days, she has been afflicted by the Heretic in his various forms. He continues his evil work today, sometimes by contradicting the truth and sometimes by adding to it. He may reframe the doctrine of the Trinity, as Arius did in the third century and as Oneness Pentecostals do today. He may, like Marcus Borg and other prominent scholars, deny the virgin birth or the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Like Jehovah’s Witnesses, he may alter God’s finished word, or like Mormons, he may add to it. Always, he boldly tampers with “the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3).

Random Bits

"I walk through this sinful world as a
pilgrim in a foreign country" - CH Spurgeon
Remember Hillary Clinton's complete and utter failure with her childish reset button? Steven Furtick is trying the same thing by resetting Christianity. He's teaming up with the heretics of the New Apostolic Reformation for RESET Charlotte a three day event filled with false teachers, false apostles, pastorix's, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's were also a lot of signs and wonders to entertain the goats.

And as for Steven Furtick - he's not here to save your soul, he's here to empty your wallet. Be sure to watch the Bereans Not Welcome video, it's incredible how Furtick injects himself into the bible (Narcigesis) in the role of Jesus

Here's an incredible article about the December 2, 2016 tragedy that destroyed the “Ghost Ship” club in Oakland, CA, claiming at least 36 victims and the occult ties to the tragedy

WWUTT Wednesday - For Lent I'm Giving Up...

Ahhh Lent, when the whole world suddenly becomes Roman Catholic. Back in Colorado the world is more secular about Lent than here in the wilds of New Jersey. I'm dining in restaurants here and I'm always hearing "I can't have XYZ because I gave it up for Lent" from fellow diners.

I come from a VERY Catholic town - Buffalo NY - and Lent there is almost a celebration. You start with wearing the ashes as a symbol of your intent to Lent. Then the season of fasting kicks off with the HUGE celebration of Mardi Gras. We don't have Mardi Gras officially in Buffalo, but hey - anything for a party. Look at St. Patricks  which falls during Lent.

Lent kicks off with the obligatory listing of things you're giving up. Most of my cohorts gave up things like caviar, pate, lemonchello, basically things we'd never touch outside of Lent either. But giving up meat on Friday - that is what makes Lent a celebration rather than a time of repentance and introspection. Instead of meat we would have fish fry on Friday. If you never had a fish fry in Buffalo, you have to head up there next Lent. I suggest fasting all day because you're going to need to. A Buffalo fish fry consists of the following: heroic portions of potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, and the star of the show a piece of haddock (beer battered or breaded) the size of the Pequod.

This is people being people in action - taking something that was meant to be solemn and turning it into a party. And as you'll see, evolution is the only constant about Lent.
