About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

WWUTT Wednesday - Pass the Bacon Please

We all knew that Joel Osteen was challenged when it came to the Bible, but every now and then a tidbit comes to light that displays how ignorant he is of God's word.
We must talk a moment about pork; ham, bacon, pepperoni. These are some things that the scripture tells us we should not eat... and of course this has to do with anything that comes from the pig, a hog, a swine... Back in the bible days the pig was considered unclean, it was never considered a source of food. - Joel Osteen
Joel goes on to tell us his personal reasoning for avoiding pork, talks about the pig's diet and it's digestive system, then goes on to tell how he prefers fresh fish, fresh salmon, and chicken. All of which proves that Joel know less about biblical dietary requirement than he knows about how chickens are raised.

But Joel isn't alone on the pulpit disparaging bacon. Jim Staley quite often disparaged bacon, but then he was deep into the Hebrew Roots movement. (I say "was" because because the Passion for Truth pastor is now doing 7 years for investment fraud). Rick Warren too say to abstain from pork in his diet book The Daniel Plan. But is this right? Should men in a position of spiritual authority be telling Christians what to eat and what not to eat based on scripture?

  1. Very interesting Doug. Scripture (Acts) is exceedingly clear that all foods "unclean" under the law are acceptable for Christians. Any pastor who teaches otherwise is showing a profound misunderstanding. Unless they are knowingly doing so.

Like if they have decided to promote "Chrislam".

Joel Osteen on "Here and Now radio 6/22/15 as related by Jennifer Leclaire for Charisma News:

"I have Muslims (who) attend our church and my books sell a lot in Muslim countries as well. You know, I don't know, I don't get too deep in those kinds of things, but our ministry is about reaching out to everybody, and so I do and I do have those conversations," Osteen said.

Osteen went on to share that Lakewood had about 50 Muslims sitting on the front row of at Lakewood Church two weeks ago and said he has "good, good relations with them.

And Rick Warren's recent equivocation does nothing to remove his long promotion of "Chrislam". Jim Staley's "Hebrew Roots" is just as bad.

    1. This probably falls under Galatians 1:8

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
