About

Per Fidem Intrepidus means "Fearless Through Faith". My courage isn't my own, it comes from the Holy Spirit, it's my faith in God and my personal savior Christ Jesus that calms my fears and allows me to move forward in this fallen world. Personally I'm afraid of a lot of stuff, but having the faith that Jesus adopted me as his little, sin filled, brother keeps me going.

Emergent Monday - False Doctrine from a False Doctor

Dr. Rick "Super Bowl" Joyner not only is a false prophet, he has a false degree. Mr. Joyner received his 'doctorate' from a "paper mill", an unaccredited institution that cranks out doctoral certificates that claims that "experience" is as good as a bachelors AND a masters degree. Earning a degree means that you have undertaken the prescribed course of study, which for a doctorate is 14 years of intense study. In a legitimate institution the prerequisites for a doctorate requires a bachelor's degree which takes four years to complete, and a masters degree which takes an additional two to three years. Generally a doctor's degree will take an additional 8 years to complete. Rick Joyner skipped the bachelors degree and the masters degree and went straight into his doctoral program with a high school GED. Mr. Joyner purchased his doctorate from North Carolina College of Theology whose accreditation is questionable at best.

Oh, and by the way, Rick Joyner is the founder and Executive Director of MorningStar University. Would you go to a university whose director has only one legitimate diploma, and that one is a High School Graduate Equivalency Diploma?

Mr. Joyner's falsehoods go beyond his academic career, his prophetic 'gift' needs a bit of a tune-up too. On June 23, 2008 Mr. Joyner joined several of his cohorts in the New Apostolic Reformation to "ordain" Todd Bentley as an apostle in the NAR at the Lakeland Revival. When it it Mr. Joyner's turn to speak he steps up to the microphone and proceeds to prophesy over Bentley. In part he says:

...the worse state we could ever fall into is lukewarmness, and God has sent you as an antidote for that lukewarm spirit. And, uh, the fire has been birthed here, it’s been released here, you’ve unstopped a well, you have other wells to unstop in other cities, in other places. This is just the beginning, and, uh, there is
longevity too. There is increase, but there is also longevity coming. There are many wells, but they’re also oil wells, and they catch on fire when you unstop them.” (emphasis mine)
Apparently "longevity" is about 2 months, because that's the length of time it took for Todd Bentley's ministry to last. He left the Lakewood Revival in shame when it was revealed that he was having an affair with a woman from the church and abandoned his disabled wife and three children when he left town with Jessa Hasbrook. He was also found to be a fraud who couldn't provide any evidence for his claimed "healings" on national television. And, it was revealed that he was showing up to these "revival" meetings drunk, as he went on stage and told elaborate stories about raising people from the dead, kicking people in the face and having regular contact with an angel named "Emma."

And "prophet" Rick Joyner didn't see that coming, but he did start backpedaling after "longevity" turned out to be 8 weeks. He boldly stepped forward declared that the whole Todd Bentley affair was God's doing. Interestingly enough, Bentley has joined Joyner in his South Carolina heresy mill ministry and is the lead act in the sideshow by raising the "dead"

Rick Joyner has prophesied in his book "The Call" that  during the evil in the last days God’s chosen would openly demonstrate that they are not only redeemed from sin, but that “...He (God) also removed sin from them.” He goes on to say that through God’s anointed, “...He will remove sin from the whole earth.” Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Messiah the anointed one?

Now you may be wondering why the Holy Spirit would tell Rick something that clearly contradicts scripture, the answer is that the Holy Spirit didn't tell him, Adam did.

The Call is more heavenly tourism on Mr. Joyner's part. On page 37 he comes face to face with Christ Jesus, on page 42 he meets Lot, on page 45 he meets Jonah (who reveals to Rick Joyner that scripture is wrong, that he fled to Tarshish because his sin made him feel unworthy to prophesy to Nineveh  (Jonah 3:10; 4:1-2) ) on page 71 he meets Abel, on page 72 he meets Adam, and on page 203 Joyner meets God. He goes on to describe God in detail, including God's face ignoring Exodus 33:20.

However on Page 17 Joyner states that the word of God (the Scriptures) "was never intended to replace prophesy" Clearly Mr. Joyner believes that the Bible is insufficient and needs to be amended by his visions and prophesy even though God tells us through the scriptures not to do so.
Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other. (1 Corinthians 4:6)
5 Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. 6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6)
Joyner doesn't just ignore scripture, he disparages it and rebelliously asserts that his mutterings are more important
The Scriptures alone are used for establishing doctrine, while ‘the voice of the Lord’ is used to give us day-to-day guidance as well as revealing the strategic will of the Lord. The Bible does not address some of the most important decisions we must all make - whom we should marry, our choice of professions, where we should live. (Rick Joyner, A Prophetic Vision for the 21st Century. Nashville: Nelson Publishers, 1999, pg 79)
Rick Joyner completely ignores what the bible says about false prophets, instead of repenting and begging God's forgiveness, Joyner perverts the pure word of God and makes excuses for his own failed prophesys
One of the greatest hazards affecting maturing prophets is the erroneous interpretation of the Old Testament exhortation that if a prophet ever predicted something which did not come to pass he was no longer to be considered a true prophet (see Deut. 18:20-22).  The warning was that if this happened, the prophet had been presumptuous and the people were not to fear him.  If one predicts something in the name of the Lord, and it does not come to pass, he has probably spoken presumptuously and needs to be repented of, but that does not make him a false prophet.  No one could step out in the faith required to walk in his calling if he knew that a single mistake would ruin him for life.   (Source: The Prophetic Ministry, The Morning Star Prophetic Newsletter, Rick Joyner, n.d. Vol. 3, No. 2, Pg. 2)
Personally I'm not sure that this is going to pass muster when the rubber meets the road, or when Rick (really) meets The Lord, that's for God and Christ Jesus to decide. My job is to point out that this is nothing new, Paul had issues with what he called "eminent apostles" Like the false teachers of Corinth the false teacher Joyner puts himself and his "visions" above the word of God, And should his prophesy prove to be blatantly false (Broncos 24, Panthers 10) he makes a weak heretical excuse that contradicts the scripture that he disparages.

Because of People like Rick Joyner and the entire NAR we must continue to stay true to the word of God, to identify those that malign God's word, and follow Paul's example:
12 And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (2 Corinthians 11:12-15)

  1. Thanks for putting all this together. I was going to link to another site just about his false doctorate, but now I will link to this article in my next "RAAH."

  3. Thank you for this expose of truth vs. false. It's evident that Sola Scriptura is a burdensome topic for those who do not understand the danger of false teaching and preaching; they just can't seem to believe God's Word and prefer an apostate's. I pray that those corrupted by Rick Joyner (and others of like same) will open their ears to the prompting of the Holy Spirit instead of the rhetoric of the NAR and its leaders.
    Blessings, Kay Cude
